Zesty Ranch Oyster Crackers are one of my favorite holiday snacks. I like to take them to the next level with a bit of fresh lemon zest!

Snacking is a non negotiable for us during holiday season as I’m guessing it is for you as well! If you set a bowl of cookies and a bowl of chex mix in front of me and tell me to choose one, I’m almost always going to choose the sweets.

The thing is though, when there are zesty ranch oyster crackers as one of the options, my choice just got a whole lot harder!

We all love snacks that are basic and use primarily pantry staples, right? Well, the ingredients for these crackers are something I always have on hand (minus the ranch salad dressing mix). You can also use the full seasoning blend and sub out the oyster crackers for something else delicious and crunchy like pretzels or bagel chips!

Let’s talk about the lemon zest real quick. If you grew up eating these crackers you’ll know that it’s not traditional. Most likely your recipe used dried lemon pepper but turns out I didn’t have any on hand and decided to go with the fresh zest instead.

That turned out to be the greatest mistake I’ve ever made! It doesn’t take much, just the zest from one lemon, but it takes the crackers to a whole new level. Fresh, zippy, and bright!

What other types of snacks/treats does your family make around this time of year? I made a mega batch of chex mix last night, some spritz cookies, and some basic chocolate dipped pretzels.

Still on my list for today, raspberry thumbprints!

Last week I made Pfeffernüsse cookies (recipe coming to the blog soon) and my family’s favorite Cranberry Christmas cookies.

It’s all the treats all the time around here.

Don’t worry, come January I’ll be serving up all the detox soups, winter salads, and meatless entrees to get us back on track!

Betcha can’t eat just 1. Enjoy!
